- You will be responsible for taking a minimum of 10 notes and asking 3 questions* for each chapter. These can be done in Notability or on Cornell Notes paper and kept in your folders.
*The questions that you create using 'Costa's Levels Of Questioning' will be used on the Panel Quizzes, so make sure that you complete them for each chapter.

Watch the following video and read through the links for the 1960's and fill out 1-2 pages of Cornell Notes as you watch and read. Your notes should include important details from the video.
Essential Question: Describe one important event from the 1960's. Who was involved? Why was it important? (Your summary should be done after you've finished the notes on the Cornell Notes Template and be no less than 5 sentences).

3:The Outsiders Character Chart - Complete the chart as you read the first two chapters of the novel. The more information for each character, the better.

We'll Make The Rules! - In this collaborative activity, students will organize and plan for a month without parents. In groups of 3, follow all of the requirements in the link and use digital media to present your month-long hiatus from parents to the class.
This activity will help students better understand the demands that household leaders face each day (or week or month) as they organize the lives of those for whom they are responsible.


5 and 6: Venn Diagram 1 and Venn Diagram 2 We'll be looking at two points of comparison: The 1960's vs. the 2010's and gang life in the novel vs. gang life today. Each section of the Venn Diagrams should have a minimum of five items to be complete.
